Eight people evacuated in the fire of this apartment in Saint-Claude

Ce Saturday December 28, 2024it was a little after 9 a.m. when the Saint-Claude firefighters were called to an apartment fire at 12, rue Christin in Saint-Claude.

Eight occupants evacuated

According to the first information collected on site by Voix du Jura, the fire broke out at third floor of this collective housing building comprising several apartments overlooking the rue Christin.

THE eight occupants of the building were evacuated and were transferred to the premises of the Red Cross located not far from there at 11 rue Lacuzon.

In total, 44 firefighterswith several large rolling stock including the large ladder, were engaged to provide assistance and control the fire, in order toprevent its spread to the two adjoining buildings.

Traffic was diverted

On site, the municipal policies diverted traffic leading towards this area, as well as‘Isabelle Billard (deputy mayor in charge of social affairs) and Philippe Lutic (deputy in charge of security and municipal police).

An investigation has been opened to find out the exact circumstances of this start of fire. Excavation in progress.
