Astonished tourists
Some admire the towers, others take photos. Many are waiting in line. Like every day since the reopening of the cathedral, the square in front of Notre Dame is full of people. “It was really a must,” assures Christopher, who came with his entire family from Los Angeles. “It was beautiful. As a Catholic, it really embodies the spirit of Christmas. Paris really has a special appeal during this time,” he adds.
Within the district, the influx of tourists is seen everywhere, between pedestrian streets and crowded restaurants, like that of Faisal, who welcomes the return of the monument. “Since the opening of Notre-Dame, we have seen a 30 to 40% increase in attendance. Sometimes, during the service, we no longer even have places,” rejoices the latter.
