Wanted since December 24 following the murder of his wife, Pricilla Vencanah, Suraj Nalimoothoo was arrested during an operation by the MCIT and the Moka CID on December 26. He was arrested in Montagne-Blanche.
This resident of St-Pierre is suspected of having fatally attacked his 47-year-old wife while she was at her father’s house in Stanley. It was the latter, aged 71, who made the macabre discovery in his garage in the early hours of the morning on December 24. Pricilla Vencanah, an alleged victim of domestic violence, was found unconscious, bathed in a pool of blood, with serious injuries.
The autopsy, carried out by the head of the police forensic department, Dr Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, and Dr Prem Chamane, concluded that Pricilla Vencanah died of intracranial injuries. A blunt object, such as an iron bar, would have been used to attack him.
Suraj Nalimoothoo is no stranger to the police. In the past, he was arrested after the distribution of intimate photos of Simla Kistnen, widow of Soopramanien Kistnen. His name is also mentioned in the explosive affidavit of Vishal Shibchurn, sworn from the Phoenix prison on July 31. In this document, the firefighter banned from his duties, claims that Rs 25 million had been promised for the assassination of Kistnen. According to this affidavit, Suraj Nalimoothoo transferred indecent photos of Simla Kistnen to his mobile phone, which he then sent to the brother of a minister. These photos were then allegedly published on the MSM Sun Power Facebook page.
