Paolo De Paola spoke during today's appointment with L'Editoriale on the frequencies of TMW Radio. These are his words:
Can Juventus grow with the January transfer window?
“We are saying that Juventus is not healthy because they have many injuries and do not have an alternative for the attack. If the market were to be disappointing, from an economic or choices point of view, we cannot live on expectations. However, I expect more from Motta and Juventus. In some cases it seems like we have returned to Allegri's game. Juventus now has the aim of reaching the Champions League and cannot fail. This is the turning point.”
Are there various transformations taking place with Motta's game?
“I am seeing transformations in Nico Gonzalez and Koopmeiners. Since they became stable, Juve has changed. Yesterday for example I didn't like Kalulu. I didn't like the defensive phase with Monza in control. By now everyone knows that the Bianconeri get into difficulty if attacked.”
Another not positive weekend for the referees.
“Yesterday there were sensational things. The back-heel offside, the penalty against Atalanta. Luckily these things are no longer whistled in Europe. I dream of a referee who goes to the VAR and judges what he saw on the pitch. you can give that penalty because it's a normal tackle. You can't call that offside.”
Eleventh consecutive victory for Atalanta.
“The change in Atalanta is that Gasperini gets angry with his team because they don't play well but they end both the first half and the second with the lead. Gasperini's skill, then, is that he knows how to adapt. Just say you want to see him in a big league, he has made Atalanta great. The De Ketelaere miracle, then, is all his, putting him 10 meters ahead and making him gain a few kilos.”
Many greats win but suffer, is there a decline for everyone?
“Now teams live by the character of their coach. In this delicate phase, in which the ranking is taking shape, it is the coaches who give the right motivation to the team. Conte and Gasperini win but get angry about the performance, they are the ones who analyze reality best. Fonseca and Motta who carry out diplomatic actions, however, are in difficulty.”
On Inter's match against Como tonight? Are the Nerazzurri still the favorites for the Scudetto?
“Inter is virtually first on equal points with Atalanta. It's the best team at the moment and I don't think Como can be an obstacle, unless you take something for granted. Inzaghi, however, made his team make a leap in mental quality and they are less and less involved in blackouts during the match. This team is very strong and plans year after year, it has never needed the January transfer window.”
