Fundamental survival clash today at 3pm at the “Penzo”, in the penultimate match of 2024 for the Serie A which does not stop for the holidays. For the seventeenth day of the championship, Venezia-Cagliari will be played, last against third-last, the first time in the top championship after the “stain” of 22 May 2022, the 0-0 which led to the relegation of the rossoblù. But Davide Nicola, who obtained salvation from that match since he was coaching Salernitana at the time, yesterday in a press conference ruled out that the team (and the veterans from that evening) are thinking about it.
In training, despite the coach having ruled out thinking about playing mirrors, the 3-5-2 is probable with the return of the many players preserved on Tuesday in the Italian Cup against Juventus: Alen Sherri in goal, Yerry Mina and Sebastiano Luperto in defense, Michel Adopo and Antoine Makoumbou in midfield (probably with Răzvan Marin, favored over Alessandro Deiola), Nicolas Viola in support of Roberto Piccoli. Also available are Jakub Jankto and Adam Obert, who had not left for Turin. Zito Luvumbo will be missing, the only one not called upfor whom a return with Monza in the first of 2025 – another direct clash – is more feasible than next Saturday's match with Inter.
In Venezia there are many former players, starting with Eusebio Di Francesco on the bench: Gaetano Oristanio and Giorgio Altare will be starters, Franco Carboni on the bench, Alfred Duncan unavailable. Referee Marco Guida of the Torre Annunziata section. These are the probable line-ups for Venice-Cagliari: as always live on Unionesarda.it, from 2.30pm live on Radiolina with the exclusive full commentary by Lele Casini from “Penzo” and all the comments to follow.
Venezia (3-4-2-1): Stankovic; Idzes, Altare, Šverko; Zampano, Andersen, Nicolussi Caviglia, Busio; Ellertsson, Oristanio; Pohjanpalo. Coach: Di Francesco.
Cagliari (3-5-2): Sherri; Zappa, Mina, Luperto; Zortea, Marin, Makoumbou, Adopo, Augello; Viola, Small. Coach: Nicola.
