A major fire broke out on Saturday morning in the MTV channel building in Naccache, Metn, before being finally brought under control by Civil Defense teams before noon.

The channel, which had to interrupt its transmission, began broadcasting live again around 11:30 a.m., specifying that the fire had broken out around 8:20 a.m., while employees were already in the station premises. The latter, located high up, are visible from the Dbayé coastal highway, which connects Beirut to Jounieh. The MTV reporter announced that the channel would gradually resume the normal course of its programs by the evening, without providing further information on the causes of the fire.

Rescuers quickly arrived on the scene to put out the fire, according to local media.

Several media outlets reported that the fire started in a generator inside the building. Smoke emanating from the generator then spread into the studios, forcing the station to suspend live broadcasts, temporarily replaced by pre-recorded footage. The channel then apologized to its audience for this interruption, explaining that it was due to a technical malfunction.

Civil Defense has not yet responded to our calls.
