Born in the city of his refereeing section, Forlì, Marco Piccinini – the choice for Torino-Bologna – referees his first match in the top flight in September 2017 (Atalanta-Crotone), when he was fully staffed in the Serie B roles. Construction engineer by profession, he began refereeing for the Romagna city section in 2003, at the age of 20.
