Referee Piccinini's performance at the Grande Torino stadium in the Serie A match analyzed under X-ray, Forlì's whistle booked two

Born in the city of his refereeing section, Forlì, Marco Piccinini – the choice for Torino-Bologna – referees his first match in the top flight in September 2017 (Atalanta-Crotone), when he was fully staffed in the Serie B roles. Construction engineer by profession, he began refereeing for the Romagna city section in 2003, at the age of 20. Among the professionals since 2011, he made his debut in Lega Pro on 5 February 2012 managing Carrarese-Triestina. He had only refereed 4 matches so far in Serie A this season but how did he fare at the Grande Torino stadium?

Piccinini's history with Turin and Bologna

Nine Bologna matches directed by the Romagna whistleblower, in all competitions. The Emilians' record is two victories for the rossoblù, obtained against Lecce and Spezia, four defeats against Lazio, Turin, Udinese and Sassuolo and three draws with Como, Napoli and Sampdoria. In the 8 matches with Toro, five victories for the Granataobtained between the Italian Cup and Serie A, against Atalanta, Salernitana, Sassuolo, Lecce and Bologna, there were two defeats against Sampdoria and Roma, and only one draw obtained by Toro against Lazio.

The referee cautioned two players

Assisted by assistants Yoshikawa and Fontani with Abisso IV man, Mazzoleni to the and Gariglio to the Avarthe referee cautioned Miranda and Freuler.

Turin-Bologna, the cases from slow motion

These are the main doubtful episodes of the race. In the 6th minute there was confusion inside the Granata penalty area: a check in progress by the VAR for a potential irregular contact, a foul by Sosa on Holm and the referee was recognized grants the penalty but Milinkovic-Savic neutralizes Castro's shot from 11 metres. In the 71st minute, just 15 minutes after entering the pitch, Dallinga scored with a tap-in on Miranda's through ball, giving Bologna the lead.

Doubts about the player's position but there is no offside and the goal is validated. In the 75th minute, Miranda was booked for fouling a restart orchestrated by Chè Adams. Yellow in the 80th minute: Pobega scores but everything is at a standstill due to the position of Dallinga covering the view to Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. The doubt seems to be whether the player covers the goalkeeper's view or not: after a very long check the goal is validated but simply because it was not exactly offside even if it was a matter of millimetres. In the 85th minute yellow for Freuler: foul committed against Ricci. After injury time, Torino-Bologna ends 0-2.
