On the pitch Sunday at 8.45pm: Monza-Juventus LIVE
Juve towards Monza, Motta counts those available
(by Emanuele Pastorella) In Monza Thiago Motta wants to see a Juventus in the cup version, whether it is the Champions League or the Italian Cup, little changes. Because the Bianconeri managed to break the deadlock against Manchester City and against Cagliari, but in the league they are still suffering from “draws” and the last success dates back to the derby against Toro on November 9th. “I always want to see everything as good, especially the determination to grow that we put into every training session and every match – says the coach on the eve of the away match in Brianza – and we will have to do our best to play a great match and get what we want”. The points lost against the so-called “small” teams weigh heavily on the standings. Nesta's boys would have been relegated today: “We face a good team that has a good coach, we don't think about what happened in the past but let's dedicate ourselves to the next match – explains Thiago Motta – and, if Monza were to close in defence, we will have to being good at creating and finishing actions with the great quality we have.” At Christmas it's time to take stock, not for the Italian-Brazilian: “I'll leave them to you, in my opinion they should be done at the end of the season – replies the coach – and our concentration is solely on the away match against Monza, everything else It matters little at the moment.” The transfer market, therefore, can also wait: “The director (Cristiano Giuntoli, ed.) is here for these discussions, I say that we are in full harmony with the club as it has always been” says the coach. And, when we talk about additions for the winter negotiation session, we inevitably think of the situation in the infirmary: “Bremer, Cabal, Milik, Rouhi, Weah and Douglas Luiz will be missing, I could have also brought the latter but I want players who are at 100% – the long list of absentees for the last away match of 2024 – while Cambiaso will be evaluated during the final finishing touches.” Should a call-up arrive at the last minute for the side, the defense should be made up of Danilo, Gatti and Kalulu, with Savona and McKennie, already tested in the Italian Cup, playing for the last place at full-back. Di Gregorio will be in goal, the spotlight will be on him since it will be his first return as an opponent at the U-Power Stadium. For the attack, Thiago Motta has one more card to play: it is Nico Gonzalez, who scored against Cagliari, even if the former Viola is destined to come on during the match, with the Conceicao-Koopmeiners-Yildiz trident behind Vlahovic.
