An endless crisis, that of Manchester City who once again lost a very delicate match against Aston Villa today: the citizens risked conceding a goal after just a minute following a serious mistake by Gvardiol, then went behind in the 16th minute without ever managing to react concretely. Rogers' goal in the 65th minute definitively cut off Pep's team Guardiola who only managed to score the 2-1 in the 93rd minute with Foden.
Manchester City, it's pitch dark: the numbers of the crisis
Too little quality, but above all little concentration in the important moments of the match. Manchester City look completely lost and don't seem to be able to find a way out. At first glance, ball possession is surprising, which previously represented one of City's dominant aspects and which is now almost always less than that of their opponents. Going deeper into this crisis, it is surprising the difficulty in recovering the ball once lost and the simplicity with which opposing teams manage to approach the penalty area.
Guardiola's team was fresh from the mockery in the derby against United and even today they were unable to give a concrete response on the pitch. Rodri's absence weighs heavily but cannot justify this total absence of ideas. City have lost 3 of their last 4 games and hasn't won since December 4th. Ten defeats in the last 12 games of the season, one draw and only one win.
Numbers that are impressive and could even get worse. The Citizens are currently sixth in the standings and out of the Champions League, the situation risks worsening irreversibly.
