Marco Rose's team was able to react to the hosts' first goal, but were helpless after the subsequent blows. The Bavarians outclassed their opponents at the Allianz Arena with a goal, ending the year as the undisputed leaders of the German championship
Vincent Kompany has brought the Bavarians back to supremacy in the Bundesliga and, even before tonight's match against Leipzig, his team could be sure that, even in the event of defeat, they would end the year top of the table. But neither Bayern nor Leipzig fans could expect anything other than a fierce battle from the first minute.
The home team took the situation literally and took the lead before 30 seconds had passed. A simple defensive error allowed Olise to feed Musiala, who opened the scoring with a tap-in in front of goal. A dream start? At least that's how it seemed for the next minute, because soon after the score was level at 1-1, with Sesko finding the fastest ever equalizer in the Bundesliga.
But the Bavarians' strength was too much for their opponents, as demonstrated by goals from Laimer in the 25th and Kimmich in the 36th. A one-two in just over ten minutes which allowed the home team to find the confidence and the right rhythm to win. And in the second half, after half an hour of stasis, first Sané and then Davies put their signatures in the victory which allowed the Bavarians to move within seven points of their closest pursuers, Bayer Leverkusen.
