Apple, a long dominance ends: it was overtaken by them

Apple has apparently lost its dominant position in a key strategic sector. Rivals come from below…

After seeing it defeat the competition from IBM and Microsoft, the world had become accustomed to considering Applethe company founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, a absolute dominator of the information technology sector. Of course, the large multinational led by CEO Tim Cook still has to challenge the successes of the team Samsung… But, in terms of market presence and brand success, the apple with the bite seems to have no real rivals.

And instead, surprisingly, after years of clashes for dominance of the IT devices sector, it is not the collaboration between Google and Samsung that challenge Apple's leadershipbut another brand. The latest sales data reveal that another company has just dethroned Apple, overtaking the Cupertino company in a particular sector of the market for some electronic devices.

A hard blow for the multinational founded by Steve Jobs… So, Apple, known as a leading company in the IT industry, has a new fierce opponent ready to steal its space in the big-tech sector.

Is Apple in crisis? In reality, the numbers say the opposite. The multinational continues to produce highly successful computers, software and applications. Furthermore, in 2024, it also maintained the record in smartphone saleswith a market share of 27.7%, thus surpassing Samsung (this is the second consecutive year in which Apple has maintained the first position).

Apple loses dominance in the smartwatch sector: who has surpassed it?

While continuing to have a strong presence in the computer and wearable devices market, thanks to a vast range of products and an integrated ecosystem of hardware, software and services, the Cupertino company now has to worry about the rise of Huawei. The Chinese company has in fact “dethroned” Apple in smartwatch market.

Huawei, in 2024, has in fact reached a market share of 16.9%, higher than the 16.2% recorded by Apple. And compared to last year the Shenzhen company had a growth of 44.3%. Surprisingly, Apple was the only company in the top five to register a decline in sales of smart watches. In fact, the Xiaomi brand is also advancing behind Huawei, with an annual growth of 26.5%. Samsung grew by 24.3% and BBK (Oppo and OnePlus) reached +25.9%.

Then in 2024, Huawei overtook Apple as the world's largest smartwatch maker. A report from IDC says so, underlining the immense success achieved by the Watch GT5 and Watch GT5 Pro models distributed by the Chinese company. For some, the empire of religion has therefore waned Apple Watch: the domain now belongs to Huawei.
