Germany was “Islamizing Europe”. It is for this reason and to stop the “crimes committed by the German authorities” that Taleb Jawad Hussein Al Abdulmohsen, a fifty-year-old doctor of Saudi origin, launched himself on Friday evening against the crowd at the Christmas markets in Magdeburg, a city south-west of Berlin, killing at least two people, an elderly man and a child, and injuring sixty-eight of them, 15 of them seriously. He would have acted alone, aboard a black SUV.

The arrested man had arrived in Germany in 2006 and had been working as a doctor for years. Only three days ago was the anniversary of the Christmas massacre in Berlin with 13 deaths. For the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, it is “an act of violence that must be investigated and severely punished”.

The massacre was committed aboard a car, driven at full throttle, which mowed down the crowd for over 400 metres. The attacker managed to hit dozens of people, betrayed during the pre-Christmas ritual of walking among the stands with mulled wine. Of the tragic race, images of a video shot by a video surveillance camera are circulating among the crowd, which some German media reported without publishing. Saudi sources told Reuters that Riyadh had warned the German authorities about the danger of the perpetrator of the attack on the Magdeburg Christmas market. Taleb Al Abdulmohsen, close to the far right, published and reposted extremist statements on his X account accusing Germany of wanting to Islamize Europe.
