Is Putin sick? A coup is currently being analyzed cough of 72-year-old Vladimir Putin during the end-of-year press conference.
The Russian President coughed several times, especially in the first hour. But then it picked up momentum. And he never stopped for the next three and a half hours, answer after answer to the questions of the journalists and the Russians. Without batting an eye.
That hoarseness was enough and the spotlight was back on the Russian leader’s state of health.
Has Putin appointed a successor? From illness to attacks: Mikhail Mishustin is ready to take the place of the tsar
Putin’s cough during the conference reopens the debate on his health
«If a cough were enough to determine international politics we would have reached levels of technological advancement worthy of the Star Trek saga, but in the end – clinical immunologist Mauro Minelli tells Adnkronos Health – even a cough from Putin is a news, and in the dynamics of intelligence and espionage it is clear that this cough hides countless subliminal meanings.”
“Otherwise – continues Minelli – if it were us it would just be a banal attempt to clear our throats before holding a marathon conference lasting over 4 hours, a kind of warm-up like in Formula 1”.
At the end of August a year ago he had experienced the same respiratory problems. It was during a video message sent to the BRICS summit which he had not been able to attend in person due to the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
His tone of voice was different from his usual one. The footage dates back to August 23, 2023.
The version of the video broadcast at the Johannesburg summit was, however, dubbed, writes Politico. In the original version of the video message, in fact, published on the Kremlin website, Putin coughed several times as he began to read a text. No reason was given why Putin’s actual voice was not heard, but RIA, the state news agency, said: “Putin addressed the BRICS business council via video link. Not with his voice.”
