Red Bull chooses Lawson to be official driver for 2025 World Championship

Liam Lawson will be Red Bull’s second official driver in the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship. The team has announced that the 22-year-old New Zealand driver will replace the Mexican Sergio Perez and join the Dutch Max Verstappen, world champion in 2024. Lawson is not a rookie absolute in Formula 1. In the last 2 seasons, he took part in some races at the wheel of Alpine. In the championship just concluded, he collected two ninth places as his best result.

Lawson: “The dream of a lifetime”

“Being announced as an Oracle Red Bull Racing driver is a lifelong dream for me, it’s something I’ve wanted and worked towards since I was eight years old. It’s been an incredible journey so far” the driver’s first words after the announcement. “I want to sincerely thank the entire VCARB team for their support – continued the New Zealander -. The last six races have played a fundamental role in my preparation for this next step. I also want to thank Christian, Helmut and the entire Red Bull family for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.
