FIFA Fan Award: the candidates and the role of the fans in choosing the winners
José Armando (Messico), Craig Ferguson (Scozia), Guilherme Gandra Moura (Brazil): question the three candidates for the FIFA Fan Award reserved for fans. And it was the fans who played a key role in choosing the winners of the various awards, decided by a voting system equally weighted between fans, the current captains and coaches of all the women’s/men’s national teams and media representatives. Furthermore, this year, for the first time, the fans also have participated in the vote for The Best Fifa Men’s 11 and The Best Fifa Women’s 11. For each of these two categories, fans chose from a list of 77 nominated players and placed them in one of several pre-set tactical formations to build their team, with the result weighted equally between them and a panel of experts. The vote for the new Marta Award and the Puskás Award, for the best goals in women’s and men’s football, was divided equally between fans and a jury of Fifa Legendswhile the Fifa Fan Award was chosen entirely by the fans and the recipient of the Fifa Fair Play Award was selected by a jury of experts.
