This December 17 took place the third edition of the Goncourt prize for prisoners. On this occasion, the prize was awarded to Sandrine Collette.
The Goncourt prize for prisoners was awarded this Tuesday, December 17 to Sandrine Collette for her work “Madelaine avant l'aube” published by JC Lattès. She succeeds Mokhtar Amoudi with her novel “Ideal Conditions” in 2023.
This novel written by Sandrine Collette is not her first attempt since it received the Goncourt prize for high school students on November 28. She recounts the harsh daily life of the inhabitants of Les Montées, a small hamlet. An existence that is turned upside down by the mysterious arrival of a young girl Madelaine from the forests. In this story, the author questions with her pen the complexity of family ties.

This literary award has existed since 2022 under the initiative of the National Book Center (CNL). It gives voice to incarcerated people by highlighting their critical capacity. This initiative also allows the democratization of reading in French prison establishments.
A jury made up of 600 people
