MONTREAL — A vehicle is a total loss after being engulfed in flames in Montreal on the night of Monday to Tuesday. A suspect was seen at the scene, making it likely arson.
Around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, emergency services were called to Avenue Jean-Brouillet, near Boulevard Keller, in the Saint-Laurent borough.
On site, they noticed that a parked vehicle was on fire. Firefighters brought the fire under control, but the vehicle was a total loss.
“Following the extinction, checks were made with various witnesses and at least one suspect was seen leaving the scene quickly before the start of this fire, which suggests an arson,” mentioned the agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, who is spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), Tuesday morning.
The investigation into this event will be conducted by the arson section of the Montreal police.
As of early Tuesday, no arrests had been made. The vehicle will be towed for inspection.
