A 15-year-old teenager was indicted this Monday, December 16, for violent robbery leading to death, after the death of a teenage girl whom he admitted to having stabbed to steal her cell phone, according to the Limoges public prosecutor’s office.
The teenager who admitted this weekend to having fatally stabbed Inès, 15, in Isle, near Limoges (Haute-Vienne), was indicted this Monday, December 16 in the evening. Also aged 15, he confessed to having stabbed her Friday evening to steal her cell phone.
In Inès’ school, the young people are in shock. On the heights of Limoges, the vocational high school where Inès studied opened a psychological unit. Here, it is difficult to return to class without thinking of her. Then comes the time for questions: Samy, a relative who often went out in town with Inès, does not understand why her attacker attacked her.
According to the prosecutor, the alleged attacker maintains his version, that of a phone theft that went wrong. The teenager, unknown to the police, had already encountered Inès several times on public transport.
The suspect’s explanations
He explained that he became frightened when Inès began to struggle and contacted his sister by telephone to call for help. It was at this moment that he inflicted around forty blows with a knife that he had brought to intimidate him, he said. Investigators are now seeking to confirm, or not, the young teenager’s version.
“He is a teenager aged 15 and unknown to the police and justice services. He explained that he had intended to steal her cell phone and had pretended to want to give her a gift from a friend to bring her to meet him,” explains the Limoges prosecutor.
Émilie Abrantes clarifies the alleged attacker’s version of the facts: “He confirmed that the latter had struggled, that she had contacted her sister by telephone to call for help, and that, in a panic, he He grabbed the phone and stabbed him several times. Lest his cries raise the alarm.”
The body of the victim, who “was not undressed” and had around “forty” wounds, was found on the boy’s instructions, as were the young girl’s jewelry box and telephone. An autopsy will take place this Tuesday, according to the same source. He was thus indicted for “robbery with violence resulting in death after death”. The prosecutor made a request for placement in pre-trial detention once her custody ended.
