Before the meeting of the flag teams which will take place in mid-January, the Villeneuvois public attended, this Sunday afternoon, a game between reservists from the two clubs. It was those from Saint-Médard who best approached this meeting, well led by Laurent from the inside, dominating both rackets. The time out requested by coach Caumont allowed the Villeneuvois to get off to a good start and take the lead at the end of the quarter with a great success from Léo Chevalier, still as valiant in the racket (25-22, 10th). At the first obligatory stop, the “green” took control of the match.
The second quarter was Villeneuvois with Arno Gava and Julien Dubarry at the forefront. The local defense dominated the visitors’ attack and the Lot-et-Garonnais took flight, just before the half-way break. The passage through the locker rooms did not change the appearance of the meeting with young VBCists on fire. Then, gradually, the Bordeaux suburbs found their colors again, helped by locals who lacked diligence. However, the gap between the two teams remained significant (51-36, 30th). Sensing that there was a possibility of getting back together, Saint-Médard increased the intensity and got closer to less than ten points of their opponents. Fortunately, the executives of the Villeneuve team found themselves on the free throw line to keep a sufficient lead.
