3 Gers projects were in the running as part of a call for projects from the MSA Midi-Pyrénées Sud. 1st prize was won by students from the Maréchal-Lannes high school in Lectoure.
Wednesday, December 11, Alyssa Palacios and Lucie Dabertrand, from the CAP class supporting agent in old age (AAGA) at the Maréchal-Lannes high school, presented their project entitled ” Family at heart.” With its call for projects system, the MSA offers young people aged 13 to 22 the opportunity to promote their project. Initially, local projects are examined by a jury made up of elected officials from the departments of Ariège, Haute-Garonne, Gers and Hautes-Pyrénées.
Thus, 10 projects were in the running, including three from young Gers residents: a festival around video games in Eauze, a project on the theme of manga at Gimont college and that of students from Maréchal-Lannes high school which won first prize. .
The jury was sensitive to the intergenerational and supportive nature of the project where students “adopt a loving grandpa and/or grandma” and offer them the opportunity to establish a special relationship through letter exchanges, snacks, activities, meals at theme or outings. This reward, which is accompanied by a grant of €2,000, will help them to continue their actions with seniors, or even to organize an end-of-year trip.
The adventure continues
This project was selected by the MSA jury to compete at the national level.
At the end of this ceremony, Alyssa Palacios said: “It’s wonderful to have won, the most important thing is that this project will be taken up next year by the new students of CAP AAGA”. “We will do everything so that our grandpas and grandmas at heart have new adopted grandchildren,” adds Lucie Dabertrand. A real bond was forged between the students and their “grandpas and grandmas at heart” whom they rushed to contact to congratulate each other.
