Sébastien Raoult is back in France. According to our information, he will be presented to an investigating judge this afternoon in Paris with a view to his indictment, the charges for which we do not know. He was extradited in January 2023 from Morocco to the United States. He was sentenced to three years in prison for computer fraud and aggravated identity theft.
“After having sacrificed him to the American justice system, which fortunately put things into perspective and understood the abnormality of this situation, the French justice system, as if welcome, issued an arrest warrant. A complaint for high treason has been filed,” laments to Paris Match Philippe Ohayon, lawyer for Sébastien Raoult.
Thousands of files stolen
Sébastien Raoult was prosecuted by American justice with two other French nationals, Gabriel Bildstein and Abdel-Hakim El-Ahmadi. The three men were accused of having formed the hacker group “ShinyHunters” and of having, starting in 2020, hacked the confidential data of more than 60 companies, including some located in the Seattle area, to resell it on the darkweb (part of the internet not referenced by traditional browsers). “Sometimes ShinyHunters threatened to leak or resell sensitive files if the victim did not pay a ransom,” American judicial authorities explained in a press release.
