The trophies for the best African players of the year were presented in Marrakech on December 16 by the Confederation of African Football.
Facing renowned players such as Serhou Guirassy and Achraf Hakimi, Nigerian player Ademola Lookman shone and was elected by voters and the jury as African player of the year 2024.
A prize that honors long-term work.
Guinean coast, it is of course the feeling of disappointment that prevails. Serhou Guirassy, the national star of the German club Borrussia Dortmund, crystallized the final hopes of Guinean supporters. After the disqualification of the U17 team from the CAN qualifying tournament in the category, for age fraud of certain players and the elimination of the national Syli, deprived of participation in the next senior CAN in Morocco, Serhou Guirassy offered the final opportunity for Guineans, football fans, to experience the indescribable emotion of the coronation. This last opportunity also refuses to smile on Guinea. And it’s as if, on this Monday, December 16, the sun was setting for Guinean football. Especially since the local championship is also struggling to resume and the sports infrastructure, not being up to standard, is not approved.
