The laborious multilayer of mechanics seen and reviewed is unfortunately the general case of this type of game, isn’t it?
In any case, if one of them was based on an original idea I hope we’ll talk about it.
I too am so tired of this type of game that I don’t even look at what’s coming out anymore.
And every time I watch, following a buzz or a prize, it doesn’t make me want it.
I sometimes even have the impression of an artificial overkill.
I was attracted to SETI, probably because of the theme, and because it seemed “thematic” to me, then, by learning a little about it I quickly moved on to something else.
We can love, I don’t love much anymore.
Moreover, at home, we play these games two or three times and we don’t want to come back to them.
The last ones in this category that I really liked are Scythe and Terraforming Mars. In my opinion two great games. They came out the same year. I’ll redo part of it whenever you want! They came out the same year, and that year the jury preferred Gréât Western Trail… a collection of mechanics without genius. three parts then forgotten…
And the excellent Root.
And since then… Even Ark Nova… 3 part then forgotten.
I come back to Root, not even named… And that year, 2018, the jury did not find anything better than to reward a reboot (certainly very good but not advancing anything) of a game from 2012 instead of putting forward to the first very asymmetrical game to meet success!
