In a press release, Marc Chappuis, prefect of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, greets “an important decision“by completing his remarks:”The sentence imposed is in proportion to the serious endangerment that this damage to radars imposes on road users in the territory. This legal decision supports the actions that we are implementing in the department to fight against delinquency and road insecurity.

At the same time, the prefecture would like to point out that the damage to a radar is an offense which therefore results in registration in the criminal record: up to €15,000 fine and a community sentence for displaying stickers. , made graffiti, obscured or covered the windows of a radar; up to €75,000 fine and five years in prison for destroying or damaging it; and up to €100,000 fine and seven in prison if the action was carried out by a masked group or individual.
