The Winner of the Innovation Prize, Recaero: Aeronautical excellence made in Ariège
Ariège SEPTUORS EVENING 2024 on Wednesday December 11. A trophy presentation which took place at the heart of a show by illusionist Rémi Larrousse.
The Recaero group, specialist in the manufacturing of spare parts for the aeronautics industry, continues to stand out for its expertise, innovation and international vision. With sites in Ariège, India and perhaps soon in the United States, the company aims to strengthen its position on global markets.
Created to provide spare parts to Aerospatiale and Airbus, Recaero has expanded its scope to meet the needs of the entire aeronautical industry. The company specializes in subassemblies, metal and composite parts, offering tailor-made solutions adapted to short cycles or mass production.
With more than 650 employees spread across four subsidiaries, including two in Ariège, Recaero remains deeply rooted in its territory. In Verniolle, the group is dedicated to the manufacturing of spare parts and prototyping, while in Mirepoix, it excels in composite structures. Its factory in India, opened in 2007, strengthens its capacity to provide globally competitive solutions, notably through modern surface treatment and painting units.
Growth driven by innovation and international ambition
In 2023, Recaero invested nearly 5 million euros in modernizing its equipment in Ariège, improving its turning machines and its tube centering and pressing systems. These investments demonstrate a strategy focused on industrial innovation and operational excellence. The company forecasts growth of almost 10% in 2024, targeting a turnover of 54 million euros, compared to 50 million this year. This progression is based on increased dynamism in all its segments, favored by the hiring freeze at Airbus, which allowed Recaero to attract new talent. Today, 360 employees work on the Ariège sites, thus strengthening the local economy.
True to its quest for new horizons, Recaero is currently exploring a strategic opportunity: the acquisition of a small company in the United States. “We want to duplicate our Verniolle model to address the North American market,” confides Nicolas Pobeau, its manager. This project reflects the group's ambition to position itself as a major player in a growing market, while diversifying its activities in the face of the uncertainties of the global context.
Although Recaero benefits from continued growth and promising prospects, the group remains cautious in the face of economic and geopolitical challenges. This resilience, associated with a strategy focused on the international market and innovation, reinforces Recaero in its position as a key player in the aeronautics industry with roots in Ariège.
