Monday in Cagnes – Prix de Cambridge: Atrani assumes its status

Grand favorite of the Prix de Cambridge, after a remarkable debut in the A Platoon of the Prix des Citronniers, Atrani met general expectations by winning with real brilliance. After having spun for a long time, the daughter of have fun gets closer to the canter at the entrance to the finish line, before taking the best between the last two hurdles, then flying away to an easy success. Ludovic Philipperon put together a nice race and thinks it can still be improved: “She started well and gave us confidence. So, we rode her to win today. She is a very confident filly, who makes small mistakes in this type of race with pace. As soon as she took the lead, she changed her action and composed herself a little. She thought the job was over. Already on the flat, she was a bit like that… She will be better off with leaders to take her along.” Already author of a three in the fifth race of the meeting, Mathieu Pitart has a filly for the next Prix André Massena (L.): “It's true that she still makes a few unnecessary mistakes, but her flat class makes up for it. She will be better on a softer track in the future. She will now be fresh again and will be seen in the Grande Course de Haies des 4 Ans.” As for her owner, Gérard Laboureau (LG Bloodstock), he was present, and of course delighted with the performance of his filly: “This is the first horse that I have entrusted to Mathieu Pitart. He rode for me 20 years ago with Marc Pimbonnet. It’s a story that lasts between us!”
