Angélique Angarni-Filopon, elected Saturday December 14, will not be able to represent France for Miss World. At 34, she does not meet the age criteria for the world competition.
At 34, Angélique Angarni-Filopon was elected Miss France this Saturday, December 14. She thus becomes the first Miss France in her thirties. A record possible thanks to the removal of age criteria decided in 2022.
She had also declared that “at 34 years old, I have a different vision of life and I want to be an inspiring woman on a large scale. I prove that there is no expiration date for women who dream of becoming Miss France.”
On the other hand, for the Miss World competition, these age criteria remain and would prevent the new Miss France from participating. Among her potential replacements, Sabah Aïb, Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, elected 1st runner-up this Saturday.
“If she doesn’t go and she agrees, I’ll take my chance.”
If it is Angélique Angarni-Filopon who is favored by the jury, it is Sabah Aïb who is favored by the public. At 18, the young northerner spoke in the columns of The Voice of the North, on a potential participation in Miss World.
“I wasn't aware of this age limit. In any case, if she doesn't go and she agrees, I'll give it a try,” says Sabah Aïb. “Ève at Miss Universe this year and Sabah next year, we would love it” exclaim Anne-Sophie Sevrette and William Cerf, members of the Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais committee
The candidacy of the first runner-up could be a possibility, as could the possibility of designating a former Miss France who did not participate in the competition, such as Miss France 2024, Ève Gilles.
On the other hand, Angélique Angarni-Filopon could be a candidate for Miss Universe, a much more open competition where age is not a barrier for the Martinican.
