It must be admitted that Cyberpunk 2077, released in December 2020, has come a long, long, long way. With a catastrophic exit, today the title of CD Projekt Red reborn from its ashes, and on December 10, it welcomed a brand new update, patch 2.2. If it allowed the introduction of new customization options for vehicles, or the introduction of the functionality to scan any car and unlock its paint, as we told you, a secret quest is hidden there: a quest from Balatro.
Cyberpunk 2077 includes a secret Balatro quest!
If you restarted Cyberpunk 2077 since the release of update 2.2, a certain “Jim B” must have contacted you in order to do a sort of Joker hunt through the city of Night City, but be careful, these are not just any Jokers: in fact, here these are the Jokers of Balatrothis card game which was seemingly nominated for the 2024 Game Awards. But then, why such a quest?
Well it was Radek Grabowski, the global director of public relations for CD Projekt Red, who, on the social network X, explained the origin of this crossover.
A while ago, I asked the Quest Design team at CDPR: “Did you like Balatro’s Cyberpunk maps?” What if we had Balatro maps in Cyberpunk 2077? » Thanks to talented quest designer Maria Mazur, we now have the Balatro quest in Update 2.2. Remarkable work, Maria!

Indeed, now Balatro is walking around in Cyberpunk 2077, with a hunt for Jokers, but did you know thatoriginally, it was the title of Playstack which decided to create maps in honor of Cyberpunk 2077 ? Yes, it was last October that the CD Projekt franchise entered the Playstack game, and here, we could say that it is a fair return of things.
Balatro-colored rewards in Cyberpunk 2077!
For those who don’t know, know that this “secret” quest allows you to earn rewards, and not just any rewards: in fact, once all the Jokers have been found in Night City, you will be able to obtain the “Joker Pack”, and the latter includes a shirt in the colors of Jimbo, the Joker from Balatro, as well as a game trophy to display in your apartment.
Looking ahead, we don’t yet know if the two games will offer other crossovers, but actually, it would be quite fun if one day we could play Balatro through Cyberpunk 2077! Whatever happens, and in any case, we will have to wait!
