The censorship of the Barnier government at least allows the ecological penalty scale to be frozen for 2025. In other words, it is the 2024 scale which will remain in force for a second year. We take stock of what new buyers of a Dacia model will pay next year.
The government’s recent censorship has many consequences for the French. Often negative. There is at least one favorable to motorists: the ecological penalty. A new scale was to come into force on January 1. In this, the threshold for triggering the penalty was lowered to 113g of CO2 per kilometer, compared to 118g for the current scale. The censorship led to a freezing of the scale. Since the 2025 budget could not be voted on, the 2024 budget is renewed before another budget is voted on in a few weeks.
Which Dacia cars are affected by the 2025 ecological penalty?
Apart from the Dacia Spring, the only electric car in the catalog, all of the Romanian manufacturer’s models are subject to the ecological penalty. At least, it depends on the engine chosen. For example, if you choose to buy a new 3rd generation Dacia Duster with its engine, you will not pay the penalty. The latter only emits 114g of CO2 per kilometer. On the other hand, for the same model, if you choose the 100 horsepower gasoline-LPG version, you will have to pay a €240 penalty because this engine emits 127g of CO2.
