More fear than harm for these residents. This Saturday, December 14, 2024, firefighters from the Essonne department intervened to an apartment fire widespread, located on the ground floor of a collective dwelling in the Bois Sauvage district, in Évry-Courcouronnes.
35 people evacuated
As soon as they arrived on scene, firefighters evacuated 35 people who occupied the building at the time of the fire. “To do this, the use of rescue hoods was necessary given the significant presence of smoke in the common areas,” specifies the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of the Essonne department (SDIS 91).
A 73-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were transported in relative urgency at the Center Hospitalier Sud Francilien (CHSF), in Corbeil-Essonnes. The other 33 residents were left behind after being examined.
The fire was extinguished using four water lances. Before leaving the scene, the emergency services carried out explosimetry readings which turned out to be invalid.
« The rehousing of the tenant of the damaged apartment was taken care of by the municipal authority present on the scene,” indicates SDIS 91.
