After the passage of Cyclone Chido in Mayotte, several Mahorais living in France remained without news of their loved ones on Monday.
In Limousin, Mahoraises anxiously await news from their loved ones on Monday, December 16, while Cyclone Chido devastated Mayotte on Saturday. “When I see the images, I don’t feel good at all,” testifies a woman. “Just hearing their voices (…) for the moment, there is nothing”, adds another.
In Nantes, a woman managed to call her sisters and follow the passage in real time “My other sister lives in a slum, her house is made of tin. They went to take refuge in the schools. When they came back, there was nothing left of the house”she testifies.
Everywhere in France, the Mahorais feel powerless. 7,000 km from their family, everyone would like to send help. “If there is a pot, we will pay the pot. If we have to donate materials, we will give what is needed so that it is transported to Mayotte”says a resident of Besançon (Doubs).
