NICOLET. Lu-Nid Maison de la famille won the “Social Enterprise Prize” at the gala of the Chamber of Commerce of the Heart of Quebec, held on November 28.
This new distinction, introduced this year, highlights social initiatives having a major impact in the community. The project put forward by Lu-Nid as part of this application is its innovative Minigym initiative.
Lu-Nid was selected among the finalists, alongside the Nicolet-Yamaska community development corporation and the Le Déclic youth center, to highlight its exceptional commitment to social development.
A project with regional impact
The Lu-Nid Minigym is the result of a collaboration with the Priorité-enfant Nicolet-Yamaska group. In response to concerns related to the development of motor skills in children entering kindergarten, this unique tool was developed to encourage active play and promote better school readiness.
Since its beginnings, Minigym has benefited from the support of the City of Nicolet, in particular through access to the facilities of the Sports Center of the National Police Academy of Quebec. Thanks to this partnership, Lu-Nid has become a reference for the creation of other Minigyms in several municipalities in the region, such as Daveluyville, Baie-du-Febvre, Ste-Perpétue and Bécancour. Localities located outside the territory, such as Trois-Rivières and Bromont, have also called on the organization’s expertise.
