With only two victories in its last five matches, including a heavy setback away against Rennes (0-5), AS Saint-Etienne traveled to the turf of a Téfécé which can get closer to European places, but also looking for a victory after a last defeat against Monaco (0-2). In this duel between Greens and Violets, ASSE still had to cope without nine players, due to injuries and suspensions. Note for Tef, the tenure of Babicka in place of Gboho.

Babicka is also the first to put himself in a dangerous situation after a great offensive from Aboukhlal, but missed the target (6th). Before showing himself to be dangerous once again, but the ASSE defense was vigilant (24th). But the match sorely lacked danger and intensity and we had to wait until the end of the first period to see Aboukhlal being caught at the last minute by Batubinsika, while he had dribbled past goalkeeper Larsonneur (45th+1).
There is danger for Sainté
In a very closed match with few opportunities, the two teams did not seem to want to take any risks and we had to wait until the hour mark to see the match get out of hand. Well served by Appiah, Stassin, the most expensive recruit in the history of the Greens, was able to adjust Remains and score his first goal of the season (1-0, 53rd). But the joy was short-lived since, a few seconds later, a good Toulouse movement allowed Babicka to head a ball perfectly, at the far post, and equalize (1-1, 55th).

But as the pace dropped, Mckenzie was very close to scoring an own goal by wanting to give the ball to his goalkeeper (82nd). But ASSE will regret its lack of risk-taking, since the Greens will concede defeat at the very end of the match after Aboukhlal (2-1, 85th). A huge blow for Olivier Dall’Oglio and his men, 16th and who risk falling behind Le Havre, in the event of a HAC victory. For their part, the Toulouse residents climbed to eighth place and even got closer to European places by temporarily returning to two points from Nice.
