Forward Florian Xhekaj probably had one of his best career games in the Laval Rocket’s 6-2 victory against the Islanders on Sunday in Bridgeport.
With three goals and two assists, Arber’s little brother, the Montreal Canadiens defender, doubled his total of goals and points in 2024-2025. He now has six goals and four assists for 10 points in 26 games.

It was in the third period that Xhekaj took charge. Trailing 2 to 1 after two periods of play, the 20-year-old athlete scored three of his team’s five goals during the last engagement, in addition to participating in William Trudeau’s success.
Earlier in the match, Xhekaj had collected an assist on Laurent Dauphin’s opening score in the first period.
The work on the special teams has also allowed the Rocket to regain momentum. In three opportunities during the meeting with a man advantage, Pascal Vincent’s men scored twice. That said, the numerical penalty was lacking, since the Islanders scored their two goals at five on four.
In goal, Luke Cavallin stopped 16 pucks in Laval’s victory.
The Rocket is now in second position in the North section with 34 points in 26 games. Xhekaj’s teammates will resume action Friday against the Belleville Senators at Place Bell.
