The murder of Father Coupard by Auguste Néel and Louis Ollivier in 1888 continues to inspire directors, this time it is the team of the series “Almost Perfect Crimes” broadcast on Planète+ Crime, which spent a few days in the archipelago to shoot a docufiction on this 19th century legal case.
The team went to the scene of the crime, the former Isle of Dogs, now Île aux Marins. She found a perfect natural setting there for the filming of this detective and historical series.
We spend our time trying to hide the anachronistic elements…but here the setting is so beautiful, I think the documentary will have another character

To make this docufiction, the director delved into the archives of the archipelago, she also called on local extras. The team has limited resources but remains concerned with historical truth.
We often do a lot with very little, we focus on the story on our frames, it remains a fictional documentary, we have a blast!
Marcel-Ange Michaud, Cinematographer
Auguste Néel went down in history as the only person condemned to death to have had his head cut off in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. The docufiction dedicated to him will be available in May on Planète+ Crime.
