(Montreal) The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating the assassination of a man in his twenties, whose body was discovered Saturday evening by a citizen in Sherbrooke, in Estrie.

The police confirmed Sunday morning that it is a homicide and that the investigation continues in collaboration with the Sherbrooke Police Department.

Police officers from the Sherbrooke department were called around 6:45 p.m. Saturday near a building located at 4300 boulevard Bourque, to help an unconscious man, public relations officer Benoît Pellerin said in a press release.

The victim’s death was noted on the spot, Élizabeth Marquis-Guy, spokesperson for the SQ, confirmed later in the evening.

The case was entrusted to the SQ’s Crimes Against Persons Division.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians from the provincial police were assigned to the scene to analyze the scene and try to shed light on the circumstances of this death. Analysis of the scene was completed on Sunday morning.
