The Bas-Rhin firefighters have been intervening this Saturday evening since 7:30 p.m. for a fire on the roof of the first aid station of the Bas-Rhin station. Champ du Feu on the communal ban of Belmont. During the winter season, it welcomes police officers and Civil Protection rescuers.
22 engines and 54 firefighters are on site or en route, from eleven emergency centers.
Two people were slightly injured. They were evacuated to the Saint-Luc clinic in Schirmeck following smoke inhalation. They are a 26-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man. Two other people, a 27-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, were unhurt.
The four personnel on site were from Civil Protection, present in the premises to ensure security on the Champ du Feu this Sunday. They were the ones who raised the alarm.
A long rescue operation
The fire apparently started in the unfinished attic.
4 lances are deployed, including one on a ladder. Captain Cedric Eschbach, column leader, describes a long operation, with the risk of widespread fire to the zinc roof.
Emergency services were forced to strip the roof. Medical equipment, including oxygen bottles, was evacuated.
CEA agents are mobilized to facilitate the approach of other emergency services and allow the installation of an advanced command post. Conditions are complicated due to snow, fog and ice.
