A vehicle fire broke out this evening at the intersection of departmental roads RD61 and RD98, in Gassin. The particularly intense fire spread to the plantations of the Derbez nursery, mobilizing significant emergency resources.
Rapid spread controlled by firefighters
The alert was given at 10:40 p.m. When they arrived, the Var firefighters found that the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames and that the flames had begun to devour the plants of the neighboring nursery. Their priority was to stop the spread of the fire to save the company before tackling the vehicle fire.
Thanks to a rapid and coordinated intervention, the firefighters managed to control the flames, thus avoiding greater damage to the nursery.
A substantial system mobilized
To deal with this fire, 14 firefighters were deployed with:
- Two urban fire vehicles,
- A high-power pump machine,
- A command vehicle.
The National Gendarmerie was also mobilized to secure the area and facilitate the emergency response.
