The fire, of an unknown nature for the moment, mobilized several dozen firefighters. As the Sherbrooke Fire Protection Department was intervening at the former CS Brooks factory at the same time, it requested help from the Magog Fire Station.
Additional challenge: this sector is without water, which means that firefighters had to fill basins provided for this purpose using a tank to properly fight the fire.
During the passage of The Tribune By late afternoon, the fire still appeared to be out of control. Firefighters were fighting the fire vigorously and some of them were on the roof of the building.
This kind of situation where several fires break out at the same time requires a bit of adjustment. “When we had a third alarm on Pacific Street, we did a recovery reminder to ensure we covered the entire territory,” explains the deputy director of operations at SPCIS, Stéphane Brochu.
“Later, we have reinforcements. We call on neighboring services. We make sure to release the teams from the first intervention to help with the second fire,” continues Mr. Brochu.
And all this, on the same day the gifts were distributed. “Let’s just say it was a pretty busy day for SPCIS!” summarizes Mr. Brochu with a smile.
