Isak Andic, the founder of the Spanish clothing brand Mango, has died “in an accident that occurred [samedi 14 décembre] »announced the group, one of the largest in Europe in the clothing sector.
“It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden death of Isak Andic, our non-executive chairman of the board and the founder of Mango, in an accident on Saturday”declared Toni Ruiz, the general director of this company, in a press release.
He did not provide further details on the circumstances of the death of this 71-year-old man of Turkish origin. The Spanish press claims that he lost his life following a fall during a hike with several members of his family near Barcelona, in Catalonia, in the northeast of Spain.

The beginnings of Mango date back to 1984, when Isak Andic opened his first store with the help of his older brother, Nahman, on Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona’s famous shopping street, which was a huge success.
Spain had just emerged from a decades-long dictatorship that ended with the death of General Francisco Franco in 1975, and consumers were hungry for more modern clothing. Mango has become one of the leading international fashion groups, with nearly 2,800 stores worldwide and 15,500 employees, according to its website.
