Congolese Christophe Mputu won the gold medal at the African Jujitsu Championship on Thursday December 12 in Marrakech, Morocco.
He beat Mauritian Dookee Adil Rashwan in the final.
During the first fight, he respectively beat the Moroccan El Amrani Abdessalam as well as the Gabonese Nze-Obame Jean-Arseve and Maboumba Moussounda Pierre-Stéphane.
Moved, Christophe Mputu says he is proud to have honored his country, and affirms that this victory is the result of hard work:
“I can say that it is a mixture of joy and sadness, joy because I honored my country, it was not easy to get there when you come up against athletes who have a good following . And, the sadness is because I always continue to travel without the technical staff so I myself assume all the roles: coach, doctor, President of FECOFA, Photographer and/or Journalist then athlete so this is not is not easy for a top athlete.”
Christophe Mputu is 2022 world champion, and 2024 world vice-champion.
He holds 72 medals and remains to this day the most successful Congolese athlete.
