An armed man opened fire on the evening of Wednesday December 11 against an Israeli bus in the West Bank, killing a 12-year-old child and injuring three other people, according to the army and Israeli emergency services. The attack took place around 11:30 p.m. south of Jerusalem, at the so-called Tunnels crossing point, between Israel and the occupied West Bank. Hospitalized “in critical condition”the child died during the night despite attempts at resuscitation, said Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem where he was transported. In addition to this child, Magen David Adom, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, indicated that it had evacuated three other injured people.
“Israeli security forces are pursuing the terrorist, and have set up roadblocks and surrounded the Bethlehem area”indicates a press release from the Israeli army. Since the start of the war triggered by the unprecedented attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, violence linked to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has exploded in the West Bank, Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967.
