Vast fuel oil fraud: the judicial police confirm the arrest of the Pessleux family group
This Wednesday, the federal judicial police communicated on this vast fraud on discolored heating oil sold at the price of driving diesel. The investigation, after a joint search operation, led to 23 arrests, including those of Profondeville residents Frédéric and Christophe Pessleux, father and son.
The operation led to the dismantling of two criminal organizations, partially intertwined, which had developed a lucrative business in the discoloration of heating oil. Bleached, the fuel oil was delivered to various service stations, including Pessleux, then resold at the price of running fuel oil. All benefit to the fraudsters. They avoided a differentiated excise tax compared to diesel, resulting in enormous gains, but to the detriment of the Belgian state.
Museeuw, Boonen et Gilbert pay tribute to Lefevere
If the list of great riders who have passed through Patrick Lefevere’s team is far too long to put down on paper, Johan Museeuw, Tom Boonen and Philippe Gilbert have undoubtedly embodied three of the most notable Belgian figures.
When seeing their former boss take a step aside, each of these champions wanted to pay tribute to the legendary Courtraisian manager.
It’s confirmed, Saint-Josse will vote again on February 9, 2025
The request for extreme emergency suspension initiated by Emir Kir was rejected, we learned this Wednesday, December 11, 2024. The government’s decision to organize the elections on February 9 therefore remains valid.
Caution was still required but as of Monday evening, the position of the State Council auditor was known. We had to wait for the official opinion of the Council which follows, in the vast majority of cases, that of the auditor. It is now done. Saint-Josse will vote again on February 9.
As a reminder, the results of the municipal elections in October, which had given Mayor Emir Kir’s list an absolute majority of seats and votes, had been canceled. The motive? An appeal brought by PS Ecolo and Team Ahidar concerning irregularities, particularly in proxies. The jurisdictional college then estimated that the number of irregular proxies was sufficient to change the distribution of seats within the Municipal Council. A sufficient reason to cancel the elections.
