According to the Government Information Agency (AIB), the explosion of two vehicles loaded with explosives on the evening of Tuesday December 10, 2024, around 8 p.m., at the customs checkpoint in the village of Tambolo, on the Pô-Dakola axis, caused five deaths, two serious injuries and significant material damage at the checkpoint and its surroundings.

The exact reasons are not known at this time. But it is established that vehicles loaded with explosives for gold panning sites often cross the Pô-Dakola axis.

The day after this tragedy, a government delegation composed of the Minister of State, Minister in charge of Territorial Administration, the Minister of the Economy and the Director General of Customs, went to present its condolences to the families of the victims and to note the damage.

She also encouraged the Dakola customs staff facing this ordeal. At the site of the tragedy, a team of scientific and technical police is working to establish the facts.

According to the AIB, this assessment does not take into account the occupants of the two vehicles at the origin of the tragedy. She specifies that the roadway has also been considerably damaged, interrupting traffic in both directions.
