The December update for Pixel smartphones brings a whole bunch of new features, but also a bug on Android Auto. No more sound comes out of the application. We’ll explain how to fix it.
At the beginning of each month, Google deploys an update on its smartphones Pixel. In addition to fix security vulnerabilities as well as some bugsthey are an opportunity to integrate more or less new features. The latest one was particularly comprehensive in this area: sharing photos in ultra HDR, improvement of the Gemini AI assistant, automatic noise reduction in the recorder application, etc.

Unfortunately, the update also brings something that we could have done without. Several users notice that after doing it, Android Auto no longer transmits any sound from the Pixel connected via Bluetooth to the car. A Pixel 9 owner gives the example of Spotifybut any application that is supposed to play music or anything else is impacted. Testimonials show that all Pixel models since 6, running Android 15, are affected.
Here’s how to fix the Android Auto sound bug after the latest Pixel update
This is clearly a bug that will be fixed by Google, but in the meantime, here’s how to get out of it if you encounter it:
- Check that your apps and mobile are up to date.
- Connect the Pixel to Android Auto as you normally do.
- Disable it Bluetooth on your phone, wait a few seconds then turn it back on.
- Let the Pixel reconnect to Android Auto.
- Once done, restart your smartphone. It will then connect to Android Auto again and this time, the sound will be present.
This is not the first time that a device update has resulted in a bug like this. Last November, Samsung’s Galaxy also “broke” Android Auto. If the solution proposed here does not work for you, do not hesitate to make a detailed report to Google. The teams are already working on resolving the problem, but any additional information is welcome.
