As expected, Microsoft deployed this Tuesday, December 10 on Windows Update what should be the ultimate Windows 11 24H2 update for the year 2024. And it’s not just a classic security-oriented Patch Tuesday (and therefore mandatory), since new features are hidden there. Let’s see what’s included in this update labeled KB5048667 which upgrades Windows 11 to build 26100.2605. As usual, certain features are rolled out gradually and therefore may still be unavailable to you after the update.
Interface: a little more customization and tools
Weighing around 1 GB, this update firstly offers some options in the settings for people who like their taskbar simple or who have a low resolution. It is thus possible to hide the notification bell at the bottom right (it is still possible to consult them by clicking on the date), but also to condense the display of the date by deleting the year.

On the start menu side, applications pinned there can now display jump lists when right-clicking, like on the taskbar. Provided of course that these applications offer jump liststhese additional options allow you to save a few clicks. These jump lists now support the Shift and Ctrl keys and can open applications in administrator mode.
Concerning the file explorer, which could soon automatically reopen tabs opened after switching off the PC, the context menu displayed when right-clicking on a file offers a new entry: send to my phone. You will first need to configure the link between the PC and the smartphone via Mobile Connecté. Finally, let’s note the display of a little more data in the task manager, such as the types of disks installed.
Security patches for .NET framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 are also included in this patch. Finally, various bugs around the file explorer, the Mica effect or even the clipboard are a thing of the past. For a more detailed list, head to the Microsoft website.
