A simple and warm reception at the town hall of None for the delivery of donations which will be sent this month.
More than 2 years after the start of the war, Val d'Azun mobilized again to come to the aid of Ukraine. The association of mayors of Val d'Azun supported the organization “Solidarité Ukraine” in partnership with the association “Les Joyeux Petits Souliers” in setting up a collection of material donations. The association supports the Lviv dance school which has more than 400 children and young people, from 3 to 22 years old. Around forty of them were selected to perform the shows, the profits of which are used to finance humanitarian actions for hospitals and families affected by the war. Donors were able to deposit their material or cash donations at the village of None. Medical equipment was particularly monitored as well as donations of warm bedding components and non-perishable food items.
The presentation of the donations took place at the None village hall during the reception of the Ukrainian dancers and the founding choreographers of the dance school, Mariya and Volodiya, of the group of singers Orpheus, from the conservatory of the Lviv opera in the presence of the association “Les Joyeux Petits Souliers”, Haute-Gironde branch and volunteers who participated in the operation. Corinne Galey, mayor of the town, expressed her solidarity with the Ukrainian people, “we are very happy to receive you. Ukraine is Europe, we defend the same values and we are with you wholeheartedly” . Mariya spoke in turn: “It's a miracle, everything is calm here. There are no bombs. Your mountain is wonderful.” Finally, Jean-Luc Herbulot, president of the Haute-Gironde branch, thanked all the benefactors of Val d'Azun and all those who helped ensure the smooth running of the operation. “With the war there are many amputees. A hospital takes care of them medically and psychologically and we support its actions” he explained, specifying that sending a truck to Ukraine costs between 3,000 and 4,000 euros, “your financial support is very important”. At the end of the speeches, the 7 Orpheus singers performed a song before sharing a welcome drink.
The next day, the Arrens-Marsous village hall was packed for a colorful and emotional show. The Opheus choir and the young dancers took the audience into the pure Ukrainian folk tradition. The show opened with a staging against the backdrop of war before moving on to fast-paced dances in dazzling costumes. It was a beautiful evening of hope.
