The case of Fabio Puglisi, this 44-year-old man accused of second-degree murder, attempted murder with armed assault and aggravated assault in Vaudreuil-Dorion last February, was back in court this Tuesday, December 10 . The case was handled in the absence of the accused before Judge Bertrand St-Arnaud.

Mr. Puglisi, who is detained in the living unit of the Philippe-Pinel Institute of Psychiatry in Montreal, is represented by Alexandre Dubé. His counterpart at the Public Prosecutor’s Office is Me Lili Prévost-Gravel. Note that he has been detained there since his arrest.

« In one of the files, we are awaiting additional expertise from Dr. Faucher who assessed Mr. Puglisi. We would therefore like to submit the file next February,” indicated Me Prévost-Gravel.

On Thursday, February 15, 2024, Mr. Puglisi was arrested around 11:50 a.m. at his place of residence in Vaudreuil-Dorion by police officers from the Sûreté du Québec in connection with armed attacks committed with knives against several victims. When police arrived, three people were found seriously injured. Two women were pronounced dead at the scene, while a 70-year-old woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries in critical condition.

The same day, the forty-year-old known to the police was accused of the murders of Elisabetta Caucci-Puglisi, 68, and Manon Blanchard, 53. He was also charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault against a third person whose identity cannot be released.

Recall that earlier this year, Mr. Puglisi was found fit to stand trial. Within this health institution, he was medicated and made able to understand the accusations against him, according to a report filed by psychiatrist Proulx.

For his part, Alexandre Dubé asked that his client’s next appearance be done by videoconference, which the judge accepted. The case will return to court on Tuesday February 18, 2025.
