A Tunisian and two Libyans, including one under OQTF, were arrested and indicted following the murder of Jérémie Greco, a former municipal agent hit by a van while trying to stop the theft of his motorcycle in the night of December 5 to 6 in Orsay, in Essonne, CNEWS learned from a police source this Tuesday, December 10.

As part of a judicial investigation opened by the Évry public prosecutor’s office after the death of Jérémie Gerco, a former municipal agent of the city of Orsay (Essonne) on the night of Thursday December 5 to Friday December 6, three people were arrested and indicted, we learned from the public prosecutor.

Among those involved are a 31-year-old Tunisian and two Libyans aged 27 and 31, one of whom is subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF), a police source told AFP. CNEWS this Tuesday, December 10. The three individuals were placed in pre-trial detention.

The third defendant requested a deferred debate before the judge of freedoms and detention. As a result, he was temporarily incarcerated pending his debate, scheduled for this week, the public prosecutor added to CNEWS. The two thirty-year-olds implicated in this case are in an irregular situation.

The victim involved in associations

Concerning the account of the facts, these occurred around 4 a.m. when the former municipal agent was awakened by the alarm of his motorcycle connected to his telephone, which suggested that one or more individuals had attempted to steal his two-wheeler, according to information from Le Parisien, confirmed to CNEWS by a police source.

The victim then rushed outside to try to prevent the attempted theft of his two-wheeler. She was then hit by a van. For now, and with the indictment of the three individuals, the circumstances of the tragedy should still become clearer.

On Facebook, the mayor of Orsay, Rémi Darmon, returned to the tragedy. “Jérémie Greco was a former agent for the city of Orsay, a volunteer involved in the rugby club and several associations. Many of you know him and we know the emotion this news arouses. We will remember his humility, his discretion, his attention and his desire to help others. His commitment to the community was useful and recognized,” wrote the councilor.

“The national, judicial and municipal police services immediately mobilized. I went to the scene of the tragedy yesterday morning with the Public Prosecutor and the Police Commissioner. A specialized investigation service was contacted to identify the circumstances of this tragedy linked to a violent impact with a vehicle in the context of motorcycle theft,” he added.
