On November 28, 2024, Beatriz Ramo received the ARVHA Women in Architecture National Prize in the “Original Work” category for the START residential project by STAR strategies + architecture, in Ivry-sur-Seine. Beatriz Ramo is a Spanish architect and urban planner. In 2006 she founded her agency STAR strategies + architecture in Rotterdam. Between 2012 and 2016, STAR was a member of the Scientific Council of the AIGP – Atelier International Grand Paris. Since 2008, Beatriz has been managing editor/contributor to the independent MONU magazine on urbanism. Since 2012, the agency's work has focused on the Paris region.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition. Until a few years ago, I didn't feel very comfortable with the term “female architect” or with an award reserved for women. However, after having myself experienced the difficulties and inequalities linked to being 'a woman' in this profession, particularly in the technical and execution phases, I would like to thank the ARVHA for this initiative which encourages parity in a profession heavily dominated by men and which helps to highlight the systemic barriers that women face, while celebrating their successes. »
The “Women in Architect” Prize is an annual national architecture prize organized by the ARVHA with the support of the National Council of the Order of Architects of France and the City of Paris. There are 4 categories in each edition of the award, the categories and winners for 2024 are:
– Young Woman Architect 2024 is awarded to Margaux PUECH-PELIPENKO for her work.
– The 2024 Original Work Prize is awarded to Beatriz RAMO LOPEZ DE ANGULO for her “START” housing project in Ivry-Sur-Seine.
– The 2024 International Prize is awarded to Sara de GILES DUBOIS for her work.
– The 2024 Woman Architect Prize is awarded to Maud CAUBET for her work.
